The biggest name in backcountry airbags has some hot new tech for this season. The BCA Float E2 25 Airbag Pack is the latest and greatest in the line of Float 25 packs, with an all-new E2 engine. The E2 engine is powered by a supercapacitor, which despite sounding like it was ripped straight from the script of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, is actually a real thing. A supercapacitor basically is a really awesome battery. It performs better in cold temps, releases energy faster, and is much lighter and smaller than traditional rechargeable batteries. All of which, of course is perfect for something you need to lug uphill in the cold with the hopes of never using, while requiring perfect, instantaneous response when you need it.
