TWIN CAM FREERIDE
Race sail performance without the encumberments of a pure slalom sail.
FULLDESCRIPTION
Race sail performance without the encumberments of a pure slalom sail. 2 cams and a narrower luff sleeve make the V8 easier to rig, gybe and waterstart than a pure race sail. Dont let the ease of use fool you though, V8 can hold its own around a race course and boasts even better early planning than even the most advanced slalom sails. Perfectly suited for foil or fin.
KEY FEATURES
Our Fastest Freeride Sail
Borrowing concepts from the RS:Racing sail line, V8 is the fastest sail you will find that is not a fully race-tuned machine.
Ease of Use
Light-weight, stable profile and easier to rig than a full on race sail. Top speed and acceleration will be close to that of the RS:Racing but rigging, gybing and water starting will be easier due to the twin cam setup, slightly reduced downhaul tension and the narrower luff sleeve.
Fin or Foil
Equally at home on foil or fin, V8 will allow you to get the most out of every session, no matter where you are.
7 Batten Layout
Ultimate control and stability are provided by the 7 batten layout.
Twin Cam
2 mini cams offer the easiest possible rigging of a cambered sail while still providing the benefits of a locked front profile.
DESIGN
INNOVATION
Designed and tested at our NeilPryde Maui Design Center by Robert Stroj, then further developed through our team riders’ feedback from across the world. No stone is left uncovered in our relentless drive to be the best at what we do.
ROBERT STROJ
In order to achieve the weight savings and performance enhancements that we were looking for in 2024, we redesigned our entire wave sail construction, all the way from the panel layout.
We developed very specific materials across the range which enabled us to use larger individual panels with less seams in order to significantly reduce the weight of all 3 technologies.
In 2025, the main design features of the wave sail range remain unchanged but we have improved material choices in the foot and clew of the sails for extra durability.
Variable thickness laminates have been the basis of NeilPrydes panel layout design philosophy for over 10 years and we have been improving their performance and increasing the areas where we are able to use these technologies year over year.
